Paper Chain

We were bored so we did a "project."

Parade Pictures:

I decided to put up the few pics I had.

HIDE AND SEEK

Laughter is definitely good for the soul and I tell you I had my dose last night.
Laura has been beggin' to play hide and seek for a few days and although very entertaining for us I am not sure how our neighbors below like it.
After some coaching on: indoor voices, no running and no banging we played. Of course I hid first as that is my favorite part of the game or it was until last night.
Laura starts the game with rules. She says, " K Mom, I will go in my room to count and you hide in the bathroom." I tell her, "Laura if you tell me where to hide you will know where I am and that is no fun, the person hiding has to find there own hiding spot." So she pretty much repeats her rules and I say, "OK." I figure she will figure out I am not there soon enough.
Anyway, we do that for a while me hiding and Laura and Addison seeking. It is tricky trying to hide when the 18 month old doesn't count and will potentially give your hiding spot away.
Then, it was my turn to count. I explain the "traditional rules" again I thought Laura got it. So I counted in my room and she found her spot.
Now I would have never found her in the bathroom if she A: Would not have turned the bathroom light on which at our house is connected to the fan. And B: when I said here I come ready or not she didn't yell, "I am in here!" Funny enough as that is I stifled my laughed and ignored that. I said in my inside voice, "Laura, where are you?" She replies while giggling, " I am in here!" I couldn't help but laugh to the point of crying.

Holiday Lights Parade

Well this story will have no pictures... sorry... the newly charged batteries were dead 4 pictures into the "waiting" for the parade to start and those pics are not the best... so... here it goes bear with my story telling!
The afternoon started with me leaving work early to get to grocery store before the holiday rush HA! Needless to say my 30 min trip resulted in taking the full One and 1/2 hours to go shopping, get groceries home, unload, change and get necessary belongings to take to "Holiday Light Parade." So in 7 minutes I put groceries away, changed into jeans, packed diaper bag, grabbed three blankets,Dora chairs, camp chair and I even remembered the camera.
So I get to daycare at 5:20 or so. The parade starts at 6:30pm so I am hustling the girls and we get out of daycare run through the highly nutritious McDonald's and get supper to eat while we wait.

Now I have heard parking is terribly downtown and people suggest going at like 5 or earlier to get parking. I did find a decent parking spot loaded the stroller with: Camp chair, Dora chairs, diaper bag, and of course Addison. Laura is so excited to go to her first parade she is running. We find a good spot set up chairs, get supper out and relax for while before 6:30 even. About 6:40pm Laura says, " I have to go potty." So we head to a restaurant downtown to use bathroom. I was not sure if we were going to make it back but we did, and with plenty of time.

It was getting chilly and the parade was finally in sight. As many parades start there were police, lights and sirens. Laura was very concerned it was going to be this loud the whole time. She soon forgot that worry and as the third and fourth float came with candy. She did great not grabbing and much to my approval handed some of her candy to the little boy next to use around Addison's age.

Addison had a good time too, we danced and sang to the Christmas music mainly. She REALLY REALLY wanted candy so by the second melt down about not getting yet another piece of candy I decided we should go. It was 7:30 or so and the parade wasn't even half over.

I thought for sure I would be draggin' Laura out of there but she left peacefully. The tears did not start until we got to the car. She was cold and Addison was still crying from not getting candy.
So the car ride home I thought to myself was this worth it as they both were crying and carrying on....
DEFINITELY!
I am however looking forward to a summer parade now!

Some friends over for a visit, Jared and Steph.

Thanks for playing cards guys!

A package in the mail

Well I have to say my girls are very very lucky. They recently received a secret package in the mail containing the cutest puppies you would ever see. The note said: Laura, I heard you wanted a puppy so I have sent two pick one and share the other with your sister. So that is exactly what she did, they have kept to which is each other puppy and carry them every where. To daycare, home, bed, just short of the supper table!
Thank you LAURIE!

A conversation with a 3 year old...

It went like this.
"Laura, I am tired of yelling you and giving you time outs, what can WE do to help that?" Nothing...
"Laura, what can you do so I don't have to yell at you all the time?"
She is confused at this point or getting together her punch line.
"Laura, what can I do so I don't have to get mad at you so much and yell?"
Laura finally replies with out any hesitation at this point, "We could tape your mouth shut?"
Seriously where do they get this stuff I have yet to threatened the tape, YET!

I have to do it more Laura comments!

**The family was sitting down for supper last night and the news was on in the background. Kris and I were trying to visit about the day when Laura yells, "Look he is PREGNANT!" We laughed so hard it was Obama in a take from his acceptance speech. Adorable.
**Laura has develped a love for the cartoon Calliou. It is on PBS and I am assuming during the week because I have yet to see it on PBS. However, we are subscribed to Netflix so Laura watchs in on there in the instant movies you can watch on your PC. Anyway, on weekend it is normal for Laura to beg and plead to watch Calliou. We have started to regulate her tv intake as she appears to be glued to the tv lately. So it is about once a month we let her watch an episode or two. ANYWAY, this weekend was a weekend she was really begging. It actually came to, "Mom, if you love me you will let me watch it." Needless to say she didn't want it.
**Recently we received the big toy book or something along that lines from Toys R Us. Laura and Addison for that matter LOVE baby stuff. So Laura was quick to find the page with the play playpen, stroller, carseat, play mat, etc for play babies. Also on this page was a little boy and girl in matching pj's we could guess brother and sister. So Laura starts her wish list... all the toys I listed above followed "a brother and this, this, this, etc." WOW Christmas is going to be a disapppoinment.

HALLOWEEN 2008 only 8 or 9 years left of this holiday right?

AT THE ZOO FOR A HALLOWEEN EVENT

All dressed up and no where to go!

THE MOM

Well a close friend of mine has requested 7 friends post 7 things you might not know about me. Now it has been 47 minutes since I laid the girls down for a nap so I am going to have to make this quick.
1. I lived in Minneapolis for the first 16 years of my life (and 3 months in college years too.) Then my parents moved me to the huge town of Dent, Population 177. Honestly, the best thing that could have happened to me. At a very critical time in any 16 year olds life I meet many new and interesting people. And along with the previous 16 years of experiences I believe all my positive qualities developed from those two diverse groups.
2. I truly enjoy the political season! I use to dream of being elected into some government position!
3. I went to college for 8 years (haha Becky got ya beat.) And in those 8 years I became a doctor! LOL yeah right. No, I did learn a lot but the first 2 or 3 is where I learned the most about life!
4. Some places I have been to that some people wouldn't know. Quito, Ecuador; Surprise, AZ, Nova Scotia, Canada (2); Regina and Swift Current, Canada; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; Las Vegas. I think that is it.
5. Some of you, well most of you know this. But for anyone that titles there post as THE MOM has to admit to this in my case, not so, secret. I HATE TO COOK! Kris does all of the cooking in our house. And I honestly get mad when he is not available to cook.
6. I really really want to move to a warmer state. Kris and I have been talking about it more now. Seriously I never imagined I would live out of MN (I am now) but now I want to move to CA, AZ, FL somewhere WARM!
7. Last thing, hmmm before Kris and I were dating and just barley friends we or was it me that decided we would get married. We even have a picture that a friend took that was going to be our engagement picture!
So this is how I am going to tag people. If you read my blog I would LOVE if in the comments you list the 7 things about yourself we might not know. Or you could email me too.
I look forward to seeing who actually reads this. Thank you to those that do read, it is much appreciated! Steph and Angie I know you are regular readers so I will be waiting for your responses! :)
Just kidding...for everyone respond only if you desire on the 7 things but leave your name quick if you would so I know who is checking my blog out!
